Does anyone know the thickness of the main 2x2 square tube that makes up the top "spine" of a 2007 America frame? I want to weld an 1/8" steel tab onto that part of the frame, but cannot for the life of me determine the thickness. Thanks ahead of time for any help!

Here's an idea: Drill a small hole in the frame. Insert a wire with a small 90 degree bend at the end. Pull the wire tight up against the inner frame surface, mark the wire, remove the wire and measure the distance from the mark to the bend. This will not be NASA accurate, but should suffice. While welding just fill-in the small hole and later use a dab of touch-up paint which you should have because you will likely grind the frame and weld a little anyway. Just an idea....

Thanks all! I thought of both of the latest replies, too (I used to inspect bridges for a living, so I know my way around a d-meter, lol, but don't have one or access to one, unfortunately... As far as drilling a hole, that was an idea, but I didn't think of the wire which is something I may attempt! I was thinking of drilling a hole large enough to view by site, but the wire idea is less destructive). I feel like it's going to be 1/8", but I'd rather know with certainty. I am moving the coils forward and will reweld their tabs and welding a bracket for a new fuel tank. Thanks again.
