Hmmmm…it would seem all the case parts that are cracked at minimum should be welded. I guess, I wouldn’t try forcing anything at this point. If it was my project, I’d start taking the whole motorcycle apart at this stage. Figure out the best way to repair parts and rebuild it from the ground up.The nut wasn’t tight at all.. the crack did not open that I saw.. but the inside of the lip is broke also where the small cover goes. The po had packed the opening with silicone to keep it from leaking..
Save the old cracked parts, they can be welded and one never knows when replacement parts will be so hard to find that sending it out will be easier and less expensive.I believe that is the best course.. I’m going to pull the tank and remove the top of the motor first..
since I don’t weld aluminum or pot metal… it would probably be cheaper to buy a good used primary cover..
I’d be careful with everything. No experience with what you have there, but anything is possible with an engine that is old. How long has it been since the engine last ran?The nut that I showed on the crank, is it possible to strip that if I overtighten it? I’m trying to break the pistons loose but I believe it’s not gonna happen…
Oops. Disassemble very carefully. Try freeing up bolts with WD40 or equivalent. Don’t try to keep on tightening if something seems like it keeps spinning.I’m not sure.. it sat in the guys shop for 10 years or so..
If you mean the threaded end to your crank... NO! , force that, strip it, and it knackered. The nut that I showed on the crank, is it possible to strip that if I overtighten it? I’m trying to break the pistons loose but I believe it’s not gonna happen…
