My 2015 T100 Bonneville and I much prefer cruising the back roads and secondary highways as opposed to blasting along the freeways and major highways. One of the things that I appreciate at the lower speeds is the variety of aromas that one experiences, as opposed to sucking in diesel exhaust on the expressways. At this time of year the combination of new-mown hay, lilacs and cow :shit: is intoxicating

Here in this coastal province we have some awesome winding secondary roads very close to the ocean and that's where we love to ride.
This a small section of one.

Fridays ride past some trees being harvested, so sad , but the aroma was sweet . Worst around here is when one of those honey wagons are spreading the liquid gold

Been awhile since I was on a route, I used to take years ago. Last month I headed out on a very nice morning that promised to turn into a great day temperature wise…didn’t disappoint. As I’m running along, I notice a lot of turned over field and chicken houses, then I hit me, the smell was/is so bad I cannot put it into words. They mix the chicken poop with cow manure to make fertilizer and when it rains and the temp gets up, well you can imagine. This lasted for about 30 minutes of the ride, it was so bad at times I could taste it. Get to a convenience store to gas up and get something to drink and I remembered why I only do this particular route in the early spring or mid fall. Back roads are great, just need to remember the field working seasons.

Hog and poultry farms are no longer viable here in Canada’s smallest province. I’d forgotten how bad the chicken smell could be . Still got plenty of cows and lobster though.

Here in South Eastern Australia in a place called South Gippsland we have lovely winding secondary roads, some lovely coastal roads & a lot of dairy & beef cattle farms. Amazing scenery & good earthy smells. You feel alive riding the roads around here. Recently had to go into our State Capital City & did not enjoy the choking diesel fumes, boring stop start roads & congestion. Rural life & roads make a motorcyclist life a pleasure.
