I have a 2014 865cc Bonne, 4000 miles. I installed a Pingle electric shifter kit the other day and while trying to dial in the shifter movement the kit does move the shift lever both directions. The neutral light went out, t and the check engine light is on now. I checked fuses, all good, and I am at a loss as to what I might have messed up. Anyone have any ideas?

I am not familiar with this kit. Do you have DTool or any other scanner that will let you read the engine error code and reset it? If not, I would remove the the kit's connections and disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes. Reconnect the battery and see if the check engine light has cleared and your neutral light works,

Carl, I do not have any kinds of code readers or scanners or portable computer of any kind. The shifter was working OK for a while while trying to set the shaft clearances and the neutral light was working, Don't know about the check engine but I think it was off while I was playing with the kit. I stalled the motor and then I noticed no neutral light unless I just can't get into neutral. What is a DTool and is it expensive?
I'll check that if I have the energy today, just got finished cutting up firewood and I need a shower and a rest. Thanks,
Mel

Is the electric shifter designed to shift your bike without the clutch? If so, that does not sound like a good thing to me. May have forced something in the tranny and maybe bent the shift forks.

Well, I shifted with my hand and got it into neutral and the green light came back on. It seems like the starter relay has gone out from this event, is that why the check engine light is still on? Need to look into it some more but it is rain/snowing here today and I park in a barn without a door on the north side and t's pretty cold out there now.

I am glad you were able get it into neural. I do not know if a bad starter relay triggers the check engine light. You need a scanner to check the code.

Well, after riding the bike a few times, the check engine seems to have taken care of itself and seems normal now.

Once a fault is cleared the check engine light only goes out after the bike has been put through a few (3 from memory) heat cycles so riding the bike a few times would do that. Alternatively starting it and letting it heat up on the stand a few times also works.

I have used TuneECU with great success on Triumphs to read codes, adjust settings and generally access ECU data and settings. For example I cleared a load of fault codes after recently rebuilding my Street Triple and checked the charging and system voltages to ensure my new charging system was working ok. TuneECU runs on phones and tablets as well as laptops and is really cheap to buy. For phones and tablets you connect using a Bluetooth ELM 327 ODB II module which plugs in to the bikes diagnostic port. The Bluetooth module costs very little on eBay or Amazon.
