So I'm 5 weeks into owning a brand new Triumph Street Cup and what do I do? Put the cover on while the exhaust was still hot.

Some of it melted onto the exhaust pipe as it comes out of the engine and curves down. A patch about 12cm by 6 cm.

With acetone and lots of picking with my fingers I've managed to get half of it off, but the remainder is very stubborn.

What are some ways to remove this? I've seen many different suggestions online. The street cup exhausts are just straight chrome right?

I did the same thing. I used a plastic, yes plastic scraper. a stiff spatula this will get the worst of it off then use the easy off.
If it comes off hard, start your bike and heat the exhaust up. it will come off in seconds...

I was also surprised at that but it seems most of the videos I watched on this they used it. Maybe it is a very fine steel wool but I would still not make it my first choice.
I agree. I use fine steel wool in furniture refinishing; but I would only use it as a last resort on chrome pipes.

I use super fine steel wool slathered in Autosol on stainless steel exhaust pipes, but I would hesitate to use anything too aggressive on chrome pipes.
Even Autosol can eat through chrome layers if you are too aggressive.
When it comes to getting burned on debris off pipes I let Easy Off do it's work.
