Hi, I replaced my fork seals a couple days ago but when stripped fork legs down I noticed the left spring had tighter coil 1 end while the right spring wasn't. Is this a similar thing 2 some aprilia set ups or is it a case of some1 replacin a fork leg & not realisin different spring fitted? Any1 else came across this?

I haven't noticed any difference in the fork springs on any of the bikes that I've gone into the forks on. Never been into Triumph forks, it's always been on my KTM's.

The stock fork springs on my Bonneville are identical as are the the aftermarket market springs I installed.
Its the 1st set of triumph forks iv done but usually on most makes & modelsniv done the springs hav been identical aprt from couple aprilia's where 1 side has tighter coils 1 end on 1 spring. The cd manual iv got doesn't mention any difference in springs hence im wandering if some1 has replaced a fork leg of different model not realisin the spring difference, cant seem 2 find out

How long is the tighter coil section?
If it's a fair bit it sounds like a progressive spring. Say around 75 - 250 mm.

They should be identical, someone might have swapped out one leg, or done a repair job.

The tighter coils start at the bottom of the spring up about 1.5 inches, there is a possibility the whole leg has been replaced at some point but nothin in the history that came with bike to verify this. As I said before I know couple bike manufacturer hav used different spring in each leg but as im new to triumphs I wasnt sure if they did the same on some of their models
I've torn down Trophy forks more times than I care to remember and those springs ought to be identical. The stock springs do have some progression to them, but both sides are the same.
PS: while you are in there, you may as well cut two pieces of PVC pipe to 1.25 inches and place them as spacers on top of the springs. That will help the front end nose dive when you apply the brakes.

You should have approximately 4.5 - 5 inches of tighter wound spring in comparison to the rest. The tighter wound section always is installed at the top, not the bottom.
