I have a 2008 T100 for sale. Low miles. Email me at [email protected] if you are interested. If I get a third bike it will be a 2015 or older. Heck with all this crap on bikes.
The speed and power levels you noted really fall outside of my capabilities which is why I’m very happy with my tech toned down version. If I start needing need for more power I do always have the option to mod it more. I love that there is a range of options for riders, motorcycles with less to no tech and ones with the bells and whistles. But, I don’t think all tech is necessary related to performance increases. At any rate good to have choice. If you think about it, a lot of the electronic tech on the modern bikes is there purely because of the power modern bikes have. The Bonnie of the 60s and 70s was one of the speed machines to have, yet it produced less than 50 bhp, whereas today you can buy a bike off of the showroom floor with over 4 times the power of the old Bonnie.
Another reason is that the biking population is growing older. So gone are the reckless days of yesteryear and our personal safety becomes more and more of an issue. Look at the PPE we used to ride with compared with what you now wear. My lid alone cost me 50% of what I paid for my Tbird in 66, after allowing for inflation.
My latest machine is a 2021 Striple with 50% more power than my Ducati. So I do welcome ABS and traction control together with the riding modes. I hadn’t even realised that it had the shift assist until the day I picked it up.
