I nearly stepped in front of one as I turned to cross my residential street. No noise and no warning that it was coming.

I tried one and decided it was too dangerous. I will stick with my pedal bike and my motorcycle.

These are an inherent danger, mostly to the inexperienced riders that wouldn't use a pedal bike as a form of commuting/transport. If you can't or are unfamiliar with how a pedal bike handles and the risks, why would you allow someone to jump on one of these things and turn them loose in traffic at twice the speeds one can do on a normal bike.
