Hello all,
I wonder where all the old Triumph are around here in the Tri-County area around Montgomery, Alabama? I met a guy one time in Montgomery back in the late '70s or early '80s who had a garage full of Triumphs. And I have had a '74 Triumph 750 Tiger, a '76 Triumph 750 Tiger, both used, and I remember when I bought my '78 Triumph 750 Tiger brand new straight off the show room floor! How beautiful it was, how smooth and wonderul a ride it was, and I loved the thump thump vibes sitting at a red light, low center of gravity, great handling, etc.. And during that year I rode a lot with an old buddy that had a beautiful Triumph 750 Bonnie chopper, the real ones, the old type, gold hardtail frame, springer front end, just beautiful. He sold it eventually.
But where are they all? I mean we both sold our Triumphs to people locally and aftwards never ever saw anyone riding them, but once in a great while, and now never. I reckon people bought them and just stored them. Anyway, I sold all three of those to local guys during those years but you haredly ever see an old Triumph around here and if you do see one it is usually a rare new one (the nearest Triumph shop was in B'ham, but I think it closed down). But I just wonder what happened to the ones we sold to local guys, where are they?
I do know where one near vintage '79 Triumph 750 Bonneville "Special" is. A guy keeps it along with other older bikes he has collected in a hanger at the littel Millbrook airport.
I wish I still had my '78 Tiger I had in that new condition. I am 6' 1" and weigh 316 and would probably look way too big for an old type Triumph, but I still miss and love those old Triumphs!
