Just got off the phone with my dealer (Down in Palm Bay Florida), wanted to know when the next oil change requirement was because I know the dealer I go to wants it sooner then the 6000 mile service manual requirement. I have a 2 year service plan with them too. 3000 miles, OK no problem. I was speaking to the service manager so asked if he got my letter about the loss of power problem that I have had like 4 times now. yep, he called he said. i didn't get it but OK. he tells me it the Jets wasn't adjusted right or something and that it needs to go on one of them dyno jet machines. First I don't have Dyno jet jets...don't know if this makes a difference. Then he tells me that it would be 300 bucks. Forget that, i can't afford that for a start. then he tells me that they are only going to be dealing with Honda and no other make of bike. Ya kidding me, he said they have no corporation from the other bike makers. I made sure that my service plan was still good which it is, but he said for warranty stuff i need to go to a dealer in Orlando, central Florida.

Carl.....is that the dealer you go to mate? And if I have this bloody drop in power more often I may still need your expertise mate. Don't know if I would need bigger jets, carb cleaning...i don't know mate, I'm a bit up in the air like Brad is. It has not happend in a while but i sure don't want to be stuck on the side of the highway either.

Cheers and ride Safe.

There is no way incorrect jetting is going to give you a sudden drop in power, sure, tuning the carbs can give you an increase in power, but it will be consistent, not on again of again, if you get my drift.
BTW, dyno jet jets are simply a brand of jets and have nothing to do with the word Dynometer, which is the type of tuning aid your dealer was talking about.
If you are experiencing sudden drop in power, it will either be a fuel supply problem or a loose electrical connection.
Check your filter screens at the petcock and at the point where the fuel line divides in to two, before you go looking in your carbs.
Also check your hi tension connections at your coils, these can also be a bit naughty at times.
And last of all, don't despair,at the end of the day, it will be something simple.
oh, and once again, double check your fuel vent hose has no kinks or debri in it.

Steve, Harry has it spot on. The dealer I use is the one in Longwood where you and I rode to. However, I use them for tires and stuff like that. I do my servicing myself. For valve adjustments and anything that major might occur, I take mine to Cycle Werks in Ocala - an independent shop. The owner, Al, has a Speedmaster along with Sprint. I would be glad to help you anytime.
