When my youngest son and I got back in the truck this afternoon after spending the day at Six Flags Fiesta Texas amusement park in San Antonio.

View from The Tower of The Americas.

At the top of the photo in amongst the trees is the Alamo.

Nice shirt, but I didn't know they still allowed Texans to climb up into tall buildings! LOL!! :y2:

So The Alamo is surrounded by modern buildings? I always had the picture in my mind that it looked like it does in the movies!!

That's WAY too hot for me, but how awesome was Six Flags??

Well since I'm not a native Texan I was allowed up the tower to chaperone the two natives that were with me. :y2:

Yeah, the Alamo is surrounded by modern buildings. The one in the movies, the John Wayne movie is located in Bracketville. The is a law that no building in the area can cast a shadow on the Alamo. The hotel to the west was planned to be twice as tall as it is but that would have caused it to cast an afternoon shadow over the Alamo. We haven't even gone by the Alamo on this trip, I may have to go grab a few photos tomorrow to share.

Fiesta Texas was pretty good, small weekday pre 4th of July crowd. If it holds to normal traffic the big crowds will start showing up next week.
