I know those that own a snowblower will laugh at me but this winter has been one of the coldest recorded in many years. For us that don't really equip ourselves for cold weather as we normally don't really have it this winter has been exceptionally harsh.

The temperature in my house are normally a few degrees colder than what it is outside and this winter I recorded temperatures as low as 5 degree Celsius = 41 degree Fahrenheit.

That's extremely cold for an inside temperature by any standards.
Over here we understand cold very well, so if you don't have a furnace or any method of heating your home like we do, you can become very uncomfortable and daily life quite miserable.
During the few really hot weeks of summer my house often gets up to 28C (82/83 F) which is quite hot for us.
In the winter the furnace keeps the daytime temp at around 21C (70 F).

If we had longer periods of cold I would do something better about the cold. However our cold times come and go during winter month and normally only go on for a few weeks.

So we just take it when it does come and hold on. However it sure is misrable at the time it is cold.

Yes that is is cold inside :ice: by any standard !
Here we have an oil boiler and a log burner coupled to the same heating system , so you can have both on or either one at a time depending on how cold it is .

My God, how did you survive? That's cold enough to freeze your. . .

We have a few cold days but generally not too bad. There will usually be a week or sometimes two weeks where the highs are in the 30's. They are predicting a colder than normal winter for us this year. I know I complain here about the cold but it's not that bad other than it's 90+ one day and 30 the next. That's what gets us, the rapid change in temp. We could handle it better if we went from summer to fall to winter instead of from the gates of hell to the South Pole in a matter of hours.

BGRIN that's what our winters have become in the past 20 years - super cold with snow and a day later, mild temps and rain FACE
It seems that the days of a constant cold winter period for about six weeks through January and February are long gone. That was the real winter period for us.
These days you have no idea what to expect. Two years ago we had a snow storm nearly every week with mountains of snow (see my driveway below).
Last year we barely had any that required the snowblower.
