I wrapped up Neal Stephenson's "Cryptonomican" over the holidays (for the second time). If you haven't read any of Stephenson's books, you are missing possibly the best author of the decade. This past year I also read his Baroque trilogy (now broken in 9 books) which was astoundingly good, especially if you are into science, math or history (Isaac Newton is a principal character in the trilogy and the title of the first book is "Quicksilver"). If you are now into huge multi=thousand page novels, then try his book "Snow Crash" (a must for William Gibson fans).
