Well, where I am it's the dead of winter -7C (18F) this morning and there's not much going on here to talk about.
After a very mild winter up until a couple of weeks ago, real winter finally arrived along with several snow storms. Only one storm required the use of my snowblower to clear. Lighter snowfalls I clear with a broad-bladed pusher-type shovel. Do I know how to have fun or what :ya2:
I've been doing some detail cleaning of my bikes in the comfort and warmth of my basement. Winter is the time to get into all the nooks and crannies of the bikes while they are idle for several months.

Maybe it was all the bad jokes that sent them packing...............

My ex wife's grand daughter's finance was killed Friday morning on the job. A drunk driver tried to pass a car by driving on the shoulder of the road. Jason was a telecommunications tech and was working at the side of the road. He was killed instantly. I may have divorced my ex; but I did not divorce her family. I have remained close to her two kids and their families and Mae Lyne is close with them also. I have been in Palatka the last three days.

What the news article does not say is that the driver was DUI. The official toxicology reports are not back yet; but the driver admitted he had been drinking. He has FIVE previous DUI convictions.

Anyway this is why I have not been online much in the last three days.

Carl this sucks hope they put him away for a long time. It really makes me mad when you read of these people having previous convictions and only when a tragedy happens do they actually do something about it

Yes, it does suck. Jason was a very fine and responsible young man. He was 29 years years old and had his house paid for free and clear as well as both of his vehicles. He and my step grand daughter were to have been married this Spring. His parents are fine, good people. I had not met them until this tragedy struck.

Thats a shame Carl, sorry to hear that. Scares the hell out of me on my bike knowing they're out there, and it's about 1/2 the reason i fear riding at nite and especially on the weekends when the roads are probably 15-20% intoxicated to some degree.

Very sorry to hear the tragic news Cal.
Around here we occasionally hear of a DUI driver in court who has multiple convictions and is still on the street driving with no licence and no insurance.
Why those worthless pieces of trash are still on the street puzzles me!
But I suppose there aren't enough jails to hold all of them.
DUI has never been taken ceriously enough by the courts - until they kill someone.

Thank you Dave, Dale, Gromit and Rocky.

It is senseless, unnecessary loss of life. I think that a second DUI conviction should lead to a loss of driving privileges for one year. A third conviction should result in a ten year loss of license. If the person is found driving during the time his/her license is suspended or revoked, it ought to be a ten year automatic prison term.

Tragic story Carl, very sorry for the family and angered by the lowlife driver.

Life can be hard at times. My wife's adopted sister had one boy, 16 years old, he passed away on Monday from MD, funeral later today, not looking forward to this one.

We have to get out and enjoy life, you never know when it's our time.

Thank you, Kevin, please accept my sincere sympathy and empathy and pass it to the family. That is tragic news. Indeed, life can be very hard sometimes. I agree with you; live each day to the fullest. We have no guarantee of tomorrow.

Sorry to hear this. They need to throw away the key!!!

Absolutely agree, unfortunately in my state the police are no longer a "police force" but a "police service". I think that just about sums up the western world. Our judges have become case managers rather than administers of due punishment. If I was in charge the chimney at the crematorium would be puffing smoke 24/7.
