I've put a deposit on a beautiful brand new MY17 yellow Street Cup here in Sydney.

Took it for a test ride yesterday and it was a blast. Also took out the Street Twin (MY19) and it wasn't as fun and felt just utilitarian.

I did notice a bit of wrist pain while riding the cup, but just put it down to a new bike and being tight from not wanting to drop something that wasn't mine, yet.

My concern is that yesterday evening I had a killer neck ache, which I think was from the riding position.

Any cup owners that can attest to the riding position of the bike? I'm wanting to use it for a mix of commuting and slightly longer rides.

If you do find the riding position a bit low on the arms you could just pop on a pair of handle bar rises and this would sort it out for you 1.25"/28.6mm Bar Kit for Street Twin, Street Cup, Street Scrambler

I think I can pretty much confirm it's the bars. I have a Tbird so much different obviously, but when i bought Tbars for it they were a slightly different position and my neck kills me at times where it never did with the stock bars. I don't think it's necassarily the same for everyone as far as whether forward or more upright is better. I just know that when the bars are at a position thats not great for your body the result is that painful neck ache right at the spine where your neck and spine join at the back of your head. Mine is likely from being too upright and the wind pushing me back causes my neck muscles to tighten up to counter that. For you they are probably straining by countering your head's weight against gravity. In any case it's a horrible pain and i think raising the bars will help a lot. I was thinking of a street cup myself and if i did i;d likely put some drag bars on it with maybe 4-6" risers ! I not one who worries about what doies or doesn't seem right on a given type of bike. I'd stop short of putting a sissy bar on a cafe tho. :y23:

In my post above I said the Tbars i put on my Tbird cause a lot of pain at times. Any long ride especially. I rode up to my sisters a couple weeks about 500 miles each way and when i got home the joint between the neck and spine was in a lot of pain and still is to some degree because i've ridden most days since. I put the Tbars on maybe 6 mo./1 year after i got ther bike in '09 and yesterday i said to heck with this and put the stock bars back on after almost 10 years......boy was i ever right ! Went for a long ride today and no pain aside from the residual pain from my trip and other rides this week. Last ride with the Tbars was maybe 2 miles to a store and by the time i got home my neck pain was raging. Todays ride was about an hour and i'm fine. Amazing how much difference there is between 2 different hand ergos.
