Monday, May 21, is the day we celebrate the queen's birthday (this year) and is a holiday making for a long weekend in Canada.
The date is actually in celebration of Queen Victoria's birthday and has been a holiday celebration since the mid 1800's. The current Queen Elizabeth ll was born in April.
This long weekend in Canada has been the traditional time for opening up summer cottages and preparing for the summer. The weather today (Friday) is glorious and the sun and warm temps (at last!!) is supposed to hold well into next week.
Our vintage bike club has a scheduled ride for Saturday and I expect to be riding again on Sunday after our usual club breakfast gathering. Monday may be cottage day.
Finally, my riding season is about to start!!!!!
But there is a down side to our club celebration this weekend as one of our members had a heart attack this week and is in hospital, but out of danger.

Crikey, it's less than 5 weeks till your summer solstice!

Make the most of it and I hope your club member makes a speedy recovery.
Thanks for the good wishes.
Spring here on the Atlantic coast is usually very unkind to us with cold temps and rain. It doesn't make for very good riding weather. It's generally not until early/mid May that decent riding weather arrives.
However, Environment Canada is predicting a warmer than normal summer this year. I'll wait and see how that plays out :y2:

Rocky, hope the bike's been washed and polished ready for her first big outing after hibernation! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

Sincerely hope your friend makes a full recovery and will be back riding with you for the next outing!

Great news Rocky enjoy the start of your riding season. Like the others I hope your friend makes a speedy recovery
Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I'll be seeing him tonight and will tell him that good wishes are coming in from all over the world :y13: :y15:
He's out of ICU and in a "step down" program which means he's making a good recovery - slow but good. There is a possibility he may be released on Monday if he continues to progress as well as he has.
My bikes have been washed and polished for weeks waiting to see the sunlight. Two bikes have been in my garage for three weeks
There has been the odd day it was fit to ride, but things at home due to my wife's health have taken up much of my time. I'm pleased to say that she's improving a bit and feeling much better so I won't be too anxious if I'm away all day for a ride.

Mate that must be a huge weight off your mind. Enjoy your riding. Breath in the freedom. :y54:
Thanks a lot. Yes, it is a heavy weight lifted. I've been worried for quite a long time. This decline in her health started eight years ago.
My friend in the hospital with the heart attack is up and walking around and is hoping to be released this weekend.
Things are better all the way around.
In an hour I'll be out on the road on my BSA. Like is good TUP

We had a great ride today. I'll post some pics later.
My buddy was released from hospital today and is home and resting comfortably. Just being home and among your own "stuff" lifts your spirits considerably.
He has some heart damage, but if he follows doctors orders should do well in the future.
