Hi, folks --

New Forum member here (I posted in the Intro section already!). I'd like your opinions on purchasing a 2013 Bonnie with the purple/white color scheme.

My local dealership is very highly regarded and has been nothing but helpful to me when I've been there looking at the new models.

So along comes the purple bike with 1500 miles and no add-ons such as bags or windshield.

The dealer is asking $5980 for it.

The NADA retail range is $4358 - $5741.
The KBB 'excellent condition' suggested retail value is $6400.

I think they're asking a fair amount for it; I know that they have to make some money on it.

Is this purple color one that most riders hate or do they have no opinion on it? That is, is this bike hugely unpopular, so maybe they would be willing to negotiate more?

Would anyone care to throw an opinion out there?

Thanks, everyone!

Sounds like a fair deal for a practically new bike as long as it wasn't seriously damaged previously. Never hurts to offer less and see what happens. Good luck!

I would also say push for a lower price on it. As far as the colour goes I have only seen photos of that version and I am sort of on the fence about it. However if it works for you then it seems that you have a good deal going here.

I agree what the others have said TUP
That bike is practically brand new and barely broken in.
The price seems fair, but haggle a bit and see what happens.

Keep that purple polished and you will look amazing out on the road TUP TUP

Thanks, Dave! As the others said, it can't hurt to throw the line out there and see what happens. If the dealer stays firm, I will still feel good about the price. Win-win. But I'd feel better with a few hundred knocked off!

Nancy, It's great to have you on board, you are so full of enthusiasm, and that's evident in your posting thus far. We too hope that you'll get the bike at the best price possible. We can all then look forward to some great posts from you in the days and weeks to come.
Good luck.

I always go low----you NEVER know.....remember they are SELLING it holding it doesn't pay their rent.
And if it was taken on trade you KNOW they gave far less than they are asking for it. And unless your in MN. (Vikings) or Louisiana (LSU Tigers) purple is not going to be a BIG seller --your right- ITS GORGEOUS but I would bet slow on the sale scale.
Personally I alsways throw out a low ball number in jest.......you would amazed how many times they come back with an "O.K." or they counter with an offer that is good and below what I actually WOULD have paid ..... IT all depends on how comfortable you are with horse trading ;)

I hope you get it thats a lovely bike really like the "mags"

And hey the green wasnt as bad as the "Nuclear Red" ---really WHAT WAS John B thinking?????

Hey, MOT, thanks for the kind words! I've already learned some good tips from TT. Good bunch of folks here, and I'm happy to be included. :-)

That is one heck of a red color on that bike! Did it last more than one season?

I'm comfortable horsetrading, but they beat me down. I did get a good deal, IMHO, on those waxed cotton saddlebags, so I'm happy with the whole enchilada.

It's bad when you walk into a negotiation knowing that you're pretty much going to leave with the item, come hell or high water!

Nice! Offer less, see if they budge. I LIKE the color but my guess is most won't ! All they can do is say no!

Hey, MMVolz, it's a done deal! They wouldn't budge on the price but they threw in some saddlebags. I was happy, I knew that I wanted the damn purple color. Ridiculous to get hung up on a color. I've never, ever been that way about my cars. But the bike is a different matter. Weird!

Vehicle colour means a lot to me and it has to make me smile with pride every time I look at it - be it a car or bike - so you're not alone.
I put off buying my Bonneville for two years because I didn't like the colours that were available.
Finally, in 2006, I was tired of waiting and went with the black/red as it resembled the Triumph Trident colours from back in the day.
I'm a big vintage bike fan and the '06 colour scheme looked vintage - and it fools a lot of people into thinking it's a restoration BGRIN.
