I've never had to have renter's insurance in my life.

But, my Daughter is moving this weekend into an apartment where renter's insurance is a requirement.

I don't know where you get it, how much it costs, or actually anything at all about it.

It's kind of stupid actually that it's required. She's rented several apartments before and this is the first one that's required it.

As far as stuff goes, probably the only things of any importance (value) to consider would be her MAC laptop and a Sony flat screen HD TV.

I tried to inquire with Progressive since that's who her auto insurance carrier is. But, they will only talk to her because they want to do a credit check first. I told them that she really has NO credit history at all. She's never had a credit card, a car loan, or any other type of loan before. She's just 21 and a year out of school and less than a year in her first real job. The only stuff that might count would be that she's always paid her utilities and rent on time. Even her cell phone bill is in my name because we are on the "family plan".

AJ, when I was "renting" on the preserve I looked into it; but could not get it. tha cabin was too old. I think the renters insurance must carry some liability protection, though I am not sure. I only wanted it for my contents. I ended up insuring only my guns.

We have it on my sons apartment. Our agent just added it to our homeowners and the cost was really low, something like $60.00 a year. The Hartman is who we use thru an independent insurance agency. It might have also have helped that our agent is my wife's aunt but I don't think do.

I would try my own homeowners policy company, but I hate them. The only reason I don't change is because I don't want to go through the hassle. They are the last place I'd want to give any more money to.
