It was a strong one and a history maker. Unfortunately it also meant the sadder things as well.Yes, it is good news. This is the first time Leesville has ever had a Cat 2 hurricane.
For us veterans of tropical weather, this is just a bit of wet weather. No tidal surge, no destructive winds. Only some tropical rain.CarlS, it’s not looking good...another coming into the gulf.View attachment 48288
True, it might just be that. Then again I remember a storm, Hurricane Alicia that spun up in the gulf in the 1980’s and went straight up through Galveston up I-45 landing as a cat 3. I remember driving along the highway near downtown Houston and saw one of those huge road signs with a three sided billboard bent at a 45 degree from vertical. No one expected how rapidly it changed from a depression to a major disaster. For us veterans of tropical weather, this is just a bit of wet weather. No tidal surge, no destructive winds. Only some tropical rain.
Yes, sir! It is definitely that time of year. Looks like you may get some of this one. Be prepared!Carl here we go again, looks like just a bunch of rain this time however the warm waters in the gulf may change things up.
Swofford home base is prepared. But we got tropical rain yesterday and last night and we are getting the same today to a lesser extent. Central Florida dodged the bullet again. Looks like all the Swofford FOB will get is some rain. The center will be east of them rather than passing over them. Plus this one is not as strong - and we pray it stays that way. The west side of the eye is the weak side.Carl, looks like Swofford Home Base and the Swofford FOB(Forward Operating Base) may both get hit by this one. I'd say dig in, but in your case build up and fortify.![]()
The mosy I have experieinced in Florida is 18 inches in 12 hours. The problem with all that rain is that it has no where to go with that strong on shore wind.I can't even begin to imagine that much rain!!
Unfortunately I can and it ain't pretty.I can't even begin to imagine that much rain!!
That town on Florida got 37 inches of rain. That is a lot water!!I can't even begin to imagine that much rain!!
