I just received an E-mail from Triumph with the heading "Triumph's Biggest Event of the Year" on it, and mentioning the Mid-Ohio VINTAGE Motorcycle Days festival coming up.

WHAT A SLAP IN THE FACE.

Hinkley/Bloor have distanced themselves so far from the original Triumph, except to make a buck on the Classics lineup, and most modern Hinkley dealers won't TOUCH a Meriden-built Triumph in thier shops.

Am I the only one that thinks this marketing is stinky in the extreme?

I agree with you. But from a product liability standpoint, I understand Bloor's position. I don't like it; but I understand it. Triumph mechanic training and certification does not include training on the Meridan bikes. My old dealership would work on Meridan bikes and they had a good mechanic.

Mid Ohio chooses a Marque of the Year every year for their Vintage Car and Vintage Bike Days.

A few years back it was Triumph cars for the Vintage Car Days and of course since they are no longer in business, there was no factory backing or events.

Since there IS a Triumph motorcycle company today which is actually a re-incarnation of the old one, I can (and I appreciate) that the factory is backing it.

Since their dealer network (for classic bikes) died when the company died and the new dealers came onboard since the rebirth, I don't expect the new dealers to service the old bikes.

I just happen to do business with a dealership that sold Triumphs back in the 60's and serviced them all along. So, my own dealership services both Meridian and Hinckley Triumphs.

Things change and we can't fight it. I'm just happy the company was reborn!!
