Triumph Thunderbird, British invasion

PassionPerformance.ca, Canada

By Uwe Wachtendorf Triumph aims for mainstream America with a conservatively styled cruiser stuffed with a big bore engine. But is it going to be enough? At a mid-morning coffee break I watch two men move from bike to bike carrying a small plastic bag. ...

I'm getting so tired of all these glowing reviews. can't someone, just one review at least say some negative things about it? :ya2: seriously, i never see so many rave reviews about a bike as this aside from a couple other triumphs. It's funny because triumph is one of the smallest manufacturers yet they seem to be making the best bikes. As much as i dislike the look and feel of sportbikes, i'd be tempted to have one of those street triples for a 2nd bike.

I would like to have a Tiger. If I had the money and I could keep the Speedy then I would rather get a Tiger over the T-Bird and I will have the best of both :y18:

you say that now, but if you rode the Tbird you might change your tune after all the reviews on how good it is.

I will be interested to see a review done by Motorcycle Consumer News. I find their reviews to be the most reliable, as they are not tainted by any paid advertising. They are also unfailingly comprehensive.

I think the reviews so far are probably spot on because every one of them says the same good things. So either triumph has them all in bed or it's a huge coincidence. I think a general consensus between number of reviews is even better than a single very trusted source because truth or not, one man's opinion can be a reflection of his various feelings and biases of a given detail. In other words, he may be totally honest, but his idea of what constitutes great handling may be different than most. Maybe he might look at handling w/o respect to the fact it's a cruiser and therefore say it's average when in fact among cruisers it may be the best as many have already suggested. So IMO the general consensus so far among what i'd say is now at least 10 reviews not counting a couple from uses is 99.9% likely true....it handles great for a cruiser and has torque for days. Both user reviews said the same thing by the way. Those are the 2 standout details that all have said, and the two most important details to me by the way !

My son loves his Speed Triple.

Have you test rode it yet Carl, I,m scared to test ride one at the moment because I,ll end up in debt to buy it . :cash:

No; I will get to do that next week. I did see it though. It is a fine looking ride. There was just no opportunity for me to ride it. The seating position is not as extreme as some sport bikes.

I think Geoff was referring to Trey's Speed Triple. :y114:
