We were taught to think for ourselves although at times I think maybe I did not and was just lucky

Yes, think for our-self's, if it hurt then you didn't do it again. Not rocket science really, and you didn't need the help of someone to tell you that it was dangerous, you used the grey matter in your bonce to determine if it was OK to go ahead, or not, as the case maybe. I wonder how long it will be before a risk assessment has to be done for playing conkers.
When I see those idiots on YouTube doing outrageous things for their few seconds of fame, I fear the human race is doomed
