Today was a pretty day and the temperature was in the upper 60's. I had a doctors appointment. As I was getting ready to leave, Carl asked me if I would like to ride and told me he would uncover the bike. I had not ridden solo in over eight months and had not been on a bike as a passenger in six months. I thought, I would really enjoy that. I put on my gear including a brand new pair of riding boots I had never worn. And off I went.

It felt so good; I did not realize how much I missed riding. Even though it was only a short trip. I really felt good. I can see that I have some building of strength to do before I venture very far. But it did not hurt to turn the rig. I was surprised ; I am in better shape than I thought. I will be doing some riding!

Awesome Mae Lyne !!! been wondering when we'd hear from you. sounds like all is going quite well, tho any time you are recouping and not doing much physical activity then yes, it will take some time to get it back. You should think about walking daily if you can. It can make a world of difference. Glad to hear from you.

Thank you, Silli. I can best describe it by saying it was like getting a new bike. And you know how good that feels!

Thank you, Dave. I quite agree. I was kind of afraid to ride again because it had been so long. I guess I was afraid I couldn't do it. But I din't have any problems. Yesterday it rained all day, which we needed. Maybe, when it clears up this afternoon, I can get a ride in.

Thank you, Devo. I know you have had some times when you can't ride, though they were not as long as my layoff; so I know you understand how it good it feels to get back on the bike.

It is actually amazing you think these things but once on the bike it just flows like you have never been away from it

Dave, you are right. I did not feel uncomfortable at all. It all came back very quickly. I did have to take some time to remember the starting sequence, turn the fuel on, pull the choke out (Carl says it is an enricher, not a choke - whatever an enricher is), turn the key on, and push the start button. But after I did it, it all came back to me. I had not forgotten how to drive the rig. It felt perfectly natural.

Thats how i felt when i got the speedmaster after not having owned a bike for many years. I went to the dealer top pick it up after not having even sat on a bike since the 80's ! You can imagine the kind of "can i ride" questions I had. But within a few miles i felt like i never stopped.

Medicine for the soul brother.

I couldn't have said it better. Glad you had the chance to get back on a bike.
