My oldest sister (1 1/2 years younger than me) passed away from cancer two years ago next month. I know her husband and children had a tough weekend.
My mother was devestated to lose a child while she lived on. She told me, "Your children aren't supposed to be the first to go."
Well, maybe that's the way it's "supposed" to be, but it doesn't always work out that way.
Life can be wonderful, but it can also be a b**ch!!

My mom's 91 this year - excellent physical health but sadly, she doesn't know who I am anymore. Dimensia is sad but better than Alzheimer. She has good days, better days and bad days. But she's physically fit and that's a bonus.

I lost my dad to Alzheimer's disease. He was strong, fit and full of life until this awful condition wasted him away in his early 80's.

Alzheimer's is a horrible, terrible disease.

My grandmother and her sister on my moms side both had Alzheimer's in their mid-60's but their brother is still going strong with no signs of the disease at around 93. So far none of my mom's sisters or my mom show any problem associated with Alzheimer's.

My wife has commented a couple times that she must have the early signs of Alzheimer's, keeps forgetting things. I tell her it's just the byproduct of middle age but if she does get Alzheimer's it will save us some money, I can just buy her one gift and give to her again every year from now on for all gift occasions. I know it's cruel to say but it usually gets her on another subject.
