One year ago today, 5 July, I took a nosedive into a Peruvian ditch and did myself bodily harm. It's hard to believe that a year has gone by so quickly in spite of the rough times I went through during recovery.
Today, I'm strong and healthy again and in no distress whatever. My life is back to normal and I'm doing all the things I always did. I can ride all day and not suffer any consequences or need any recovery period.
I'm spending some time at my cottage on the lake (when it isn't raining ) chopping firewood, shovelling gravel into a wheelbarrow, and doing the many chores around the place and at home.
I have some limitations in the extreme movements of my shoulder, but I was warned that might be the case. I'm still pushing it and am trying to get beyond that point, but if I don't my life is very normal and I have no complaints.

Thanks guys.
I put considerable effort into the physio program because there was no way in h**l that I was going to allow myself to become a semi-invalid and not be able to enjoy my active lifestyle. It certainly paid off and day-to-day I practically forget that I was ever injured.
As time passes I expect to be even better.
At one point an ER doctor told me that I might not be able to make a fist with my right hand again due to the fractures to the finger joints - and that I should get used to being left handed.
That's like waving a red flag at a bull by saying I can't do something.
Once again there was no way in H**l that I was going to become a lefty for the rest of my life. It wasn't easy getting the finger flexing and grip back, but my right hand works just fine, thank you very much :ya2:
Some of the doctors and therapists gave me the, "You know, at your age, recovery is difficult" routine.
My attitude was, "Oh yeah, well stand back and stay out of my way" :ya2:
They weren't really being negative, just warning me to not raise my hopes too high. They soon learned that I wasn't an "average" patient.
I enjoy proving people wrong

yup, I believe attitude has as much to do with recovery as the drugs.
Well done Rocky, I hope like hell I"m still riding at your age,in fact I hope like hell I;m still breathing at your age. :ya2:

Yes, you will - but it beats the alternative!! And you will still be riding.
