Great article! I knew most of that from my research for writing the McQueen article that is posted somewhere here on TT. The fence that was jumped over was made of string and rubber bands and knotted to look like barbed wire from a distance in case Ekins jumped short. They didn't want him to be shredded by the real wire in case of a crash or a short jump, but it all went very well. Great movie!
