Well you have one and can speak from experience. I thought of you in my comment, you seem to love the R3.Stupid video. Yes it’s a big bike but it handles fine. I’ve been riding for 54 years, owned 17 motorcycles. Compared to modern sports bikes yes the R3 takes more effort to lean. Compared to 70’s and 80’s bikes it handles well.
It’s definitely huge and your comment about knees is really appropriate for some of us. I doubt mine could handle that motorcycle. The video is likely a bit biased. Of course it’s not sport model, but I’m willing to bet someone with racing level skills will ride it just fine. Nice comment and perspective!OK, some perspective. I owned a 2005 Rocket III for 15 years and took it over Tail of the Dragon twice. It had a car tire on the back (Bridgestone Potenza Grid 225/50R16) and I smoked the guy in our party riding a Honda VTX 1300. Did it corner like my Speed Triple RS? No. But it was more than capable of dealing with corners using the throttle and brakes as partners in crime (i.e. speed control). The only reason I don't have a Rocket is the weight was getting too much for my knees, otherwise I'd still have one and ride it like I stole it. Now I have to be content with smaller, lighter bikes that don't pull as hard from a stop as my Rocket (altho the S3 comes closest). The guy in the video has his opinion from a few hours riding a Rocket, I have mine. The delta, I got an Iron Butt Certificate (#54758) riding mine.
I've done 4 1000-24's. First on a Triumph Sprint ST and 3 on a HD Roadglide. Too old for that now.I got an Iron Butt Certificate (#54758) riding mine.
