Here it is the middle of October already and it seems like our summer only just got started.
By the end of October/early November I call it quits for the year and mothball the bikes for the winter.
But there are still some riding days left, and with that in mind, I jumped on one of my Honda's and hit the road for the afternoon. I chose the mount with the oldest gas in the tank (6 weeks) as I needed to burn it before it got any more stale.
I headed down the coast towards a couple of coastal loops that are some of my favourite roads. 198 km's later I had blitzed both. There was no traffic so I turned up the wick a bit and enjoyed some spirited riding.
I thought the air might be cold near the ocean so dressed in an extra layer just in case. It was cool as I expected, but not cold by our standards and I was very comfortable.
Along the way I noticed storm damage done by the tail end of Matthew and his gusting winds, but the roads were clear and dry.
I topped up the gas tank and added fuel stabilizer when I got home as I don't know when I'll ride that bike again before the end of the month.
Our club has a final scheduled ride for the season on Saturday and I expect to ride the Bonneville for a change.
No pictures this time as I was out for the ride and only stopped once for a short rest.

Went out for about a 2 hour ride after work today. My daughter was available, so she suited up and away we went to see some fall colours before the leaves are all gone. Followed some river valeys and a bit of highway. Was cool when we got back, but still a GOOD ride.

Two months from now (or sooner) it might look like this BGRIN but then it might not.
This is a picture from two years ago. Last winter was nearly the opposite with very little snow, but cold temps.
We can handle the cold OK, but the snow is a pain in the neck, back, etc. BGRIN
But I have no real complains as I have a reliable snowblower that dispatches the snow in short order.

Rocky, snow is real pretty to look at but not much fun to have to shift and without a snow blower, too much like hard work.I can only guess at that statement as don't see it often, only recollection from years ago when a sudden dump on southern UK has meant I have had to get the shovel out.
anyway up to 16deg here in France later today so Andrea and I are off to lunch with friends on the Trumpet to celebrate yesterday's result, looking forward to it.
