I'm not much of a royalist but the QE's diamond jubilee coming up, the band-wagon is already well on its way.

For instance, Marmite (a savoury bread spread) has launched a special edition called: Ma'amite! Quite clever.

So for the smarty-pants out there, is it: Ma'am as in Jam or Ma'am as in Farm? :y2:

I was a Marmite baby :y2:! I love the stuff.

Related to the Diamond Jubilee (I don't know if you've seen this yet, but QE II's rocks are going on display):

The Silver Jubilee in 1977 was a big event in the UK. If you celebrated it in public you were 'jubilating'! It was a great year sportwise for the UK- Barry Sheene was 500 GP World Champion and Virginia Wade won Wimbledon.

I love Marmite too - just had toast and marmite for lunch :y2:

I saw that link - been to the Tower and seen the jewels - words really can't describe them; really gob-smackingly beautiful.

Do you remember in '77 the big panic because Idi Amin Dada declared that he was going to the Celebrations with or without an invitation??

Talking about Marmite I see they actually make a cheese

And he was going to be carrying a loaded service pistol in a holster on his belt if I remember correctly! Nutter, absolute nutter (Sandhurst trained too).

That's right and in his full military regalia with the 100's of medals he awarded himself! Wish I could find one of those photos! Total, utter maniac! The joke here was weather he'd have his tea in a teacup or a jam tin - 2 or 10 sugars?!
