D-Day, June 6, 1944. How can anyone forget that date.
In spite of intensive planning, things did go wrong, but in the end the allies secured a foothold in Europe.
The sacrifice was horrible, but it had to be done.
I can't even begin to imagine the pressure that was on General Eisenhower.

Even though Saving Private Ryan is a great modern movie, I think The Longest Day from 1962 still remains my favorite movie of D-Day.

Which was just a little ahead of my time but still on some movie circuits during my teens.

Some great movies about D-Day. Will watch a few today.
Must never forget the sacrifices our Brothers and Sisters in Arms made to end tyranny and oppression.
Lest we forget.

I cannot recall seeing The Longest Day I must look it up and see if it is on any of the streaming series I have.
It's a great movie shot in B & W and loaded with most of the big male actor names of Hollywood and England - even singer, Paul Anka who wrote the theme.
It's nearly three hours long, but worth the time.
I have it on DVD and may watch it again later.

It is one of my all time favorite movies and definitely my favorite D-Day movie.
We all owe the Greatest Generation a debt we can never repay.
