I agree 100% with all the above, the Queen is a leading light in her Respect for the Armed Forces. Unfortunately the Government for all their lip service to the brave men and women out there do not back it up with action.
No amount of praise or medals can compensate for the hardship caused through loss of a Father and Husband, neither can money but it goes along way too helping the ones left behind, it goes along way to making a house handicapped friendly when you have lost your arms and legs , it goes along way too provided round the clock care . The Government is presently trying to claw back money from a Marine Cpl who was shot in the leg as they do not see that they are responsible for the complications which arose from the inital surgery. They feel they are only responsible for the inital injury and awarded him 10,000 pounds, he took them to court and got 46,000 pounds but they have appealed against the award.
Don,t want to detract from the Queens award and it is a well timed gesture at a time the Troops are feeling the public does not recognise the sacrifice they are making, but medals mean nothing when your bills are coming through the door.
They are regular stories where heroes from campaigns past are having too sell their medals to pay for daily neccessities as I am sure happens in the USA and other countries. Rant over, soap box put away.

Apologise for anyspelling mistakes, spellcheck has gone awol .
