Supercharged Speed Triple 1050 RS by Thornton Hundred
“It’ll eat Panigales for breakfast.”
About three years ago, we featured a Ducati 900SS cafe racer from a 22-year-old builder out of the UK, Jody Millhouse of Thornton Hundred Motorcycles. A couple of killer builds followed, including a jaw-dropping Virago 750 street tracker, and we knew Jody was one of the customs world’s young guns to watch:
Fast forward to 2021, and Jody hasn’t slowed down one bit. Thornton Hundred Motorcycles has moved into a larger, plusher shop, and they’re in the process of building a new workshop from scratch — a space that can keep pace with the size, scope, and complexity of their builds:
The bike you see here is a 2020 Triumph Speed Triple 1050 RS, a 148-bhp “factory streetfighter” known to excel as both a daily commuter and track-day weapon. Before becoming a Triumph Ambassador, Jody built a stunning Ducati 1299 Panigale that our friend Ross Sharp of The Bike Shed was lucky enough to see in person:
Now Jody is back with this Triumph Speed Triple, giving it a similar treatment:
As you might imagine, this blown Triple is quite the monster on the road, capable of gunning down the V4 rockets from Bologna:
Below, we get the full details on this Ducati-killer, as well as more updates on the past and future of Thornton Hundred Motorcycles.
We’ve come a long way since 2018. We moved into a much larger and more plush workshop and have been here for a year — we’re now building our own workshop from scratch which will encompass every detail we need to produce the best products and also to allow us to provide the best customer buying experience possible.
Our bikes’ level of quality and engineering has gone through the roof, with larger budgets we are able to sink more money into staff and specialists to help us achieve the highest quality parts in the Triumph aftermarket scene. This has also allowed us to create some really complex engineered parts such as our passenger seat mount for the Triumph Bobbers.
The bike is a 2020 Triumph Speed Triple RS 1050.
I started this bike at the start of the first UK Covid lockdown for a project as I thought we would go through a quiet patch, the bike would allow me to keep social media content flowing. The business grew 522% last year which meant the build got put on the back burner as it didn’t have a customer and was a long term project.
I wanted to build something similar to the Panigale I built previous to my being a Triumph Ambassador, using a Triumph base. One-piece billet subframe, big 3d-printed aero wings, aggressive styling, and a bespoke built supercharger.
Custom bodywork with the speedo sculpted into the tank, 3d-printed side pods with aero wings, OZ Forged wheels, bespoke supercharger kit which I designed on my iPad, 3d-printed headlight, custom carbon mudguards and huggers with billet mounts, 3d-printed indicator pods with Motogadget bar end indicators, billet number-plate mount which allows the bike to be MOT compliant in regard to the lighting spacing, etc. Stainless exhaust.
This bike is a wild ride, the supercharger has a super linear power delivery with instant throttle response and insane torque and top end power. It’ll eat Panigale’s for breakfast.
The bespoke supercharger system I designed on the iPad, also the billet subframe and the tank molding.
As we move into our bespoke built premises at the end of the year, we’re looking to take over the custom bike scene and to be known as the go-to Triumph modifiers with factory endorsement and great bikes and products to back it up. One-off builds are in our DNA and we intend to keep developing and designing to push the boundaries of what is possible with custom motorcycle design.

• What was the design concept and what influenced the build?
I wanted to build something similar to the Panigale I built previous to my being a Triumph Ambassador, using a Triumph base. One-piece billet subframe, big 3d-printed aero wings, aggressive styling, and a bespoke built supercharger.
