A crash involving two motorcycles — one of which was going 100 mph — closed Kennedy Drive for about five hours early Sunday morning, but miraculously caused no fatalities, according to police.
Several law enforcement agencies and even the Bradley Public Works Department responded at 1:15 a.m. to reconstruct the accident and clean up debris, which was scattered from Broadway Street to North Street.
"It was a mess," said Bradley Deputy Police Chief Steve Coy.
The accident occurred when one motorcycle, traveling at an estimated 100 mph northbound from Kankakee, slammed into another along Kennedy Drive. Coy said the driver of the motorcycle that was struck was not seriously injured. The driver of the speeding motorcycle and his female passenger came to a stop several blocks away, along with what remained of the motorcycle.
Both were rushed to local hospitals, but neither of their conditions were not available at press time. Although Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner said no fatalities were reported.
"The bike was disintegrated," said Coy. "The only thing left was the engine and the frame."
Kennedy Drive remained closed until 6 a.m. while workers cleared debris and Illinois State Police investigated. Coy said details would be available in a week when the investigation was completed

We came upon this accident on our motorcycle as police were arriving. Horrific, sickening scene, female passenger missing a limb, debris littering the entire block beyond both sidewalks... all the result of an irresponsible driver.
We talked with witnesses who saw & heard the speeding driver accelerate hard as he came alongside the Goldwing driver, losing control and striking the Goldwing.
That speeding driver sure didn't impress anyone with his foolish, reckless, irresponsible behavior. If he & his female passenger did indeed live, they are VERY lucky & hopefully her leg was able to be reattached!

I have seen several irresponsible motorcyle drivers (and passengers) on Kennedy drive and I am suprised there hasn't been a fatality yet. We have seen them speed, drag race, stand on their seats and ride on only the back wheels for several blocks! If you are on the back of these idiots bikes, ask to get off! We have seen the police stop people for not wearing seat belts, making right turns on red but we haven't seen them stop these idiots. We have also not seen any of them stopped for excessive noise. You can hear them coming for miles.
There are a lot of motorcycle riders who are responible, and these idiots give them all a bad rep.

I was one of the first on the scene as their motorcycle flew by me in a fireball. I watch helplessly as both bodies came to e rest on the sidewalk near the BP on Kennedy. The female had her leg severed at the knee and the male was bleeding from the head.
I want to give props to the couple that came and helped stablize the victims. A county officer and a nurse were quick to lend a hand in a bad situiation.
One can not imagine the speed they must have been traveling to leave a debris field so long from the inpact site just near Big Lots and all the way to North St. This is the kind of stuff you see on television. I pray for the victims and their families.
Drinking and driving truely do not mix and here is another example of just that.
