That young Aussie is surely talented, however not surprised now that he is a Dad, made a little cash and proved he can ride any motorcycle faster than anyone.........even legends.
I haven't looked at any of the online M/C pages yet but if it's true it isn't a surprise to me.
He'll retire with 2 or possibly 3 world championships to his credit. That's fantastic but he'll never go into history as one of the superstars only a bright flash and gone.
Good luck to him.
I hope that this shock announcement and his comments about the state of Moto GP sting the FIA & Moto GP brigade in to action to reform & revitalise the class whilst there's still something left to salvage.
Right, I think I've worked out what has happened to cause this shock retirement from the sport.
It seems that young Casey happened to see this picture on our forum and realised that now Silli is regularly knee scraping
that it's just a matter of time before Silli goes on to dominate the sport on a world level. Casey thought it best to quit whilst he's still ahead, so to speak !
Stoner's been unwell for a while - I was surprised he came back last season but he'd been given a clean bill of health apparently. I hope he's retiring for the right reasons like family etc and not because he's become ill again.
I really enjoy watching this young man race - he is pretty 'hot' to watch on all counts.
He says he's becoming disillusioned with the direction Moto GP is going (the uncompetitive CRT bikes, not enough prototype bikes) and he's losing his enthusiasm. There is no suggestion of any health issues.
