Spring Tide and Storm Serge

Yesterday we had a spring tide but a strong storm serge with it. The wind was blowing like crazy and I took a ride down to the beachfront and watched the huge waves breaking on the shoreline. The heavy sea pushed the waves into polutated areas so a lot of damage was sustained along our coastal areas. I have seen this happen a few times over the years but this time it seemed a lot worse that what we have had in the past.

You'll see worse yet. Hope the power situation doesn't get any worse over there because of it.

The weather is really changing these days. This is the worst drought we have ever seen but we now seem to be getting past that.

The one main entrance highway to the city had to be diverted because the waves were breaking over it. In the years I have been here I have seen that twice before and it is really scary as there is also a railway line between the road and the sea. Then there is a breaker wall to stop any high tide coming over the railway.

Those are some big waves. When will people learn the ocean is not to be trifled with and build back from the shoreline.
