Hi All,

My Speed Four's headlights are wired such that the left is used for the dip and the right for the main. This is the factory system. I'd prefer both headlights to be used. The circuit diagram shows a separate relay used for dip and for main circuits. I intend to wire the bulbs in parallel to achieve twin lighting on both circuits. My question is; are the relays of a high enough rating and is the alternator likely to be able to cope?

Regards,

Steve

Steve, the alternator will cope with the additional light. I can't speak for the relays; but my guess is that that there would be no additional strain on each relay as each controls one light. You need to look at the wiring at the socket in the low beam side. My guess is that you will have to replace that socket and wire that side to accept a dual filament bulb (high and low beams). I would suspect that the low beam side is specifically wired for that purpose and there is no wiring for a high beam. That is the way cars are wired at any rate.

Let us know what you find. Have you asked the dealership? I would be surprised if this has not been done by others.

Hi Carl,

sorted now, thanks. Found some info on this massive site. Simply a matter of putting 2 relays in the 2 empty prewired connectors under the seat. Cost a mere £6 to do.

Steve
