Things get hectic and all that... you know. Father-in-law quintuple bypass, mother-in-law knee surgery, wife's grandaughter ACL surgery, demanding girlfriends, etc. etc. etc.
Bike is running great as usual; went for a long ride last Saturday when we got a bit of relief from the heat. Have had a drought and heat indexes in the 110+ F range for over 6 weeks. It all ended in the last 24 hours with 8 inches of rain.
Normally go to a Gulf of Mexico beach each summer for a weeks vacation (holiday to most of you). Wife's daughter has a penthouse condo and yacht at Gulf Shores, Alabama (a barrier island that is about half in Alabama and half in Florida), but with the oil spill lots of stuff on the beach is closed and the yacht has been moved up the Tombigbee waterway to Pickwick Lake in Tennesse (which isn't very nice). Trying to find a nice place to go that 1) doesn't involve gambling (wife is obsessed), 2) not a kiddee place (Disney yuck!), 3) cooler than here, 4) no bugs (that takes out much of the cooler places in North America), 5) isn't a cruise, and 6) has reasonably good food. I would love to go to New Zealand, but it would be a two day trip to get there, two days to get back and at least a day on each end to recover, so that leaves one day in a week's vacation. The Carribean is a possibility, but it will be hot and its hard to escape the casinos there.
