Ok my bike (the 2012 Storm) had the original tires with 4700 miles when purchased in Feb, so 10 yrs old. Pretty sure after all the miles in 6 months I have clocked, that the rubber is hard as a rock.

So started the search through all the threads here and on the world forums. A lot of talk about rears but hardly any for fronts. and finally ended up on Amazon.

6 hours of seares later, I found a 19 front and a rear that have good reviews and wont brake the bank. (see picture attachement)

Once on I will report. Technically they are not matched, but so close that they sell together a lot. Finding that 19 in front is a Mother B**ch

I bought a low mile '12 Storm last fall and recently put a rear tire on it. Got a Metzeler ME888 installed and it wasn't cheap. The reason I went with that is they are the only tires I ever used on my 04 Speedmaster and they gave me good service on that bike.

Yep rears are a dime a dozen, its that damn front tire thats a PITA.

UPDATE:

I ended up going with a different rear tire. its now the Shinko Verge2. I had them mounted on Wednesday 8/31/22 starting mileage is 7439.

I have no0t done anything other than ride home from shop and t round trips to work. They ride nice and want to turn quick and sure.

Keep us posted on how that tire wears and how it performs please. Was the Shinko a cheaper tire?
The tire was bought through Amazon. List price $171 after tax,$185ish.

Yesterday I spent about 55miles riding 2 up on a really twisty piece of 2 lane. It’s not long and I rode it end to end 3X. It’s a fun one but too many brake riders were out. I took video that will get posted after editing.

The ride was confident. The only slip I felt was when pulling a tight U-turn lean to get out of heavy stop and go 2lane highway (due to Labor Day and the State Fair.) an crossing over the rumble strip.

It also started raining at the end of the day. Roads were slick as rain was not enough to wash away the oily crap. I didn’t push it and had good traction .

The front was confident also.

(30 min time limit to edit?? That’s pretty bougus)

The tires have scrubbed in Idd say 95 % of tread width. (Much more than any bike this far, and 2 up to boot)

UPDATE: During that scrub in ride, I picked up a pc of metal that flattened my new tire. I attempted a plug patch and it did not hold, so i guess its a slice type. Bought a AVON 3D XM.

I was trying to buy the other Avon tire that fits the Thunderbird, don't remember the model, but due to supply chain issues I ended up with the Cobras too and no regrets, great tires.
