Hi all.

After all the years of ownership, re-building, modifying and (occasional) riding, my Bonnie's left the garage for a new home. I decided it just wasn't getting used enough (though, ironically, actually put over 700 miles on it since top end rebuild in last 12 months) and, do you know what, I couldn't think of anything else to do with it. I think that when I did ride it I was really only trying to justify still having it around.

Anyway, it's gone back to live in Birmingham, close to its birthplace. I got the price I wanted without any problem, but (you know how these things go!) I was always going to use part of the money to buy something else - as it happened, the guy whose bought it builds bikes as a hobby (streetfighters, including a neat turbo'ed Speed Triple) and he had a machine to offer in part-ex...

The happy outcome is that the Bonnie has now been replaced by a wad of cash and an '03 Daytona 955i, which has been given the Speed Triple treatment - so full power with flat 'bars. This is exactly what I wanted to do to my previous '03 Daytona before I sold it a few years ago.

I say happy outcome, but there are a few electrical woes I've discovered - however I'm hoping a new battery will cure them. Before I post pics of the new one there are a few details I want to change (like getting rid of the nasty cheapo streetfighter light and mis-matched indicators) but otherwise it's very, very close to how I'd have built it myself.

So guys, I suppose I'll be moving to another part of this forum from now on, so all the best to you Meriden owners and it's been nice keeping in touch about the older stuff.

Cheers, Nige

OK fellas (no secret, 'cos it was on Ebay) I got £4500 for the Bonnie, then gave the chap £1500 back for the Daytona. We were both happy with our respective sides of the deal.

However, you need to note that the Daytona was a Cat C insurance "write-off" in 2009 (fairings I suppose) which is why it's been rebuilt as a naked/Speed Triple.
It only has just over 13000 miles on it and, taking it apart a bit, everything is pristine and backs up the mileage. Cat C knocks the value down but the build quality (electrical issues aside for now) makes up for it. To be honest £1800 or thereabouts will buy a decent, standard '03 Daytona in these parts.
