I decided last month to make myself a seat cowl for Angie. Not being able to get hold of one to copy was proving to be a problem, so I had to start from scratch.

I took of my seat and covered it with a dustbin bag, then proceeded to do a fiberglass layup ontop of the plastic bag.

After a night to harden I pulled it off very easily thanks to the bag.

Trimmed and sanded, checking the fit and lines....

Covering the cowl in body putty so it can be sanded to a fine finish.

Finish sanded and matt sprayed to check for hi-spots...

Eventually I was happy with the part, now I had to make a mold..
Here I've prepped it with molders clay...

On with the gel coat....

Let it tack, then on with a fiberglass layup...

Leave it overnight again, pulled it, sanded and polished.

Here's the result from the first pull, primed, base coat and clear.

It was quite a bit of work seeing as I had to make one to start with, but I'm happy with the results. The colour matching isn't 100%, but I can live with it. Personally I think it needs a sticker or two - but haven't found anything suitable as yet.

Top effort G :y115:
I know (dont ask me how) how much work that is and it apears to have been well worth it.
Knock up a couple more and flick em on E bay
You may recoup your costs

yeah, it's a quite a bit of work, but I must admit that I do enjoy it.
don't know about flogging them though - I'm never happy with my work. lol
