Hi, my name is Bob, and I am a Triumph addict. Please pray for me...

As some of you here know, I ride an '02 Thunderbird, in addition to an '02 Y______ Road Star for long distances. I have long had a mental love affair with the Sprint ST, particularly in red (totally out of character for an old fart that rides a dark indigo R* and a graphite/black T-Bird. I just never had the funds available to deal with my desires.
A year ago, my sister passed away from cancer, and her estate was recently finalized, so, after paying off my credit card debt, I had a little available cash to do something in her honor....hmmm. I again started thinking about my Sprint dream.

Well, after speaking with several very knowledgeable and avid Triumph fanatics, and sitting on a Sprint, I had to come to terms with the reality that the aggressive riding position put a little more pressure on my left arm(injured several years ago from a bicycle wreck) than was smart, plus I started hearing more comments about the heat that liked to ooze up from under the fairing. So I started listening to a friend one afternoon who really loves the Tiger (a bike that I had not really thought a bunch about). He was very enthusiastic about the bike, so that got the tiny (read microscopic) wheels turning in my brain. I joined a Tiger web forum and found the same, if not even more fanatical enthusiasm from almost everyone on the forum.......more hmmmmmm.

Well, yesterday, I rode my T-Bird from coast to coast....ok so Florida is not that wide..150 miles...to a vintage bike show at the dealership where my friend is the Triumph guru in the Service Dept. I was greeted by several more super enthusiastic Tiger riders whose enthusiasm was contagious, so, before I left, I took what was left of my sister's estate and put in down on my brand new BLAZING ORANGE Tiger ABS. Talk about out of character for a super conservative guy, not to mention an old fart. I am very excited about picking the bike up in two weeks (I had to find someone willing to drive coast to coast just for the hell of it) and when I get it, it will have hard bags and center stand.

So that little guy in the back of my head that kept asking, "What the heck do you need with three bikes?" was sent to his room, and the eternal child in me is ready to play....

Just thought I'd keep you all up to date on the wild and wierd adventures of shyguy344....aka Bob

What is a man to do with 3 bikes???????? Ride them......Good luck with it mate. One day I want an old Thunderbird like me Dads I just need to know what year it was because I I have is OLD pictures. Carl has seen the pics and its a thunderbird for sure.

Have fun mate....Im talking to ya cild...hahaha

Ride safe

Well Bob congratulation I too have considered a Tiger after having a test ride on one. Please keep us updated on the progress and especially when you do your first coast to coast trip on the new Tiger. :y18:

The way I look at it shyguy (Bob) you only go around once and life is too short to find yourself at age 99 and wishing you had done.....bought.......whatever.
That's why I went to Chile and Peru at the ripe old age of 70. I knew I would never have another chance to see it on a motorcycle.
You can't take it with you, so if you can afford it, enjoy the fruits of your labor while you can.
I'm sure your sister would approve of your decision. She would want you to be happy and doing things you enjoy - the things that make life worth living.
Congrats on the new toy :y115:

So what's wrong with having three bikes?
To people who suggest I'm a bit extravagant having a matching Speedmaster and T100 I piont out that the two together cost less than a mid-range Harley or a Rocket 3 which they no doubt would condone.
We wont mention that they share occomodation with a Suz***,a Ho***,A Yam*** and a Chi****monkey-bike!
I justify it to myself by saying that as my parents wouldn't allow me to have a motorcycle, that qualifies as a deprived childhood!
It's never too late to have a happy childhood!

I justify mine by explaining that I don't play golf, don't own a boat, am not a hunter, don't go out drinking every Friday night, so I spend less on bikes than most guys do on their other hobbies. This will be the only monthly payment for me other than my mortgage. All of my other bikes, my car and my truck are all paid for.
Hell, what would I do with money in the bank. I am just trying to do my part as an American to keep the economy going....and some internation relief also....hee hee

Enjoy your bikes and the feel good factor from helping out the economy. Think of all those guys working at Triumph (UK not Thailand) who will be able to buy there kids Christmas presents now thanks to your generosity :y18:
