Hello!
Ive been riding a long time and have had a bunch of bikes, but bought my 1st "Adventure" bike last fall - Triumph Tiger 800. I really like the bike, but I cannot get comfortable on it. Ive added risers and tried several handlebar positions but my shoulders and back of my neck get sore/numb. I was going to send the seat away to have it rebuilt this winter, but not sure if that will help.

Any advice on how to better fit the bike to me would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there , you dont say how tall you are or your inside leg and arm length are ?
Also what type of bike you've been riding and what style ?
It may take some time to get used to a different style of bike and riding possition .

When I was looking at my next bike I tried the 800 and 1200 Tigers. The seat on the 800s and how it's positioned with a forward lean didn't work for me, That's why I went with my current bike, the 1200. I have also added risers to mine and helped improve my riding position. I am fairly tall @ 6'2" and the seats on the 1200s can be adjusted for height and angle, so if you went with a seat that changed your angles, perhaps that would work better for you.
Is your bike the "low" model? Also from your Avatar pic it looks like the XRT or road model with the alloy rims

Yes its a low model. Im 5'6" tall. Im thinking of rebuilding the seat myself this winter to see if that help. Thanks for the reply!

My bike is a low model. Im 5'6" tall and have been riding my Harley Wideglide for several years. Thanks for the reply!

Ive got the xca version of your bike and i have to say i found the seat a bit uncomfortable at first , and would get a numb bum after about 20 minutes when i first had it .
But now after owning it for 7 months and 3500 miles i now find it very comfy to ride , i am still thinking i may need to fit risers that bring the bars back a bit to make it perfect but its not bad !

Well you’re going to think I’m crazy, but do you have a heated jacket or vest ? The problem may not be your position but you may be too tense on the bike. So your back is starting to fatigue tense up pinch a nerve (the numbness). Try the heated gear , use it like a heating pad to relax the muscles until you get more comfortable with the new bike .

I simply put a sheepskin cover on mine, comfyest bike ive ridden in a long while, 2019 tiger xcx

Ive had my 900 LRH for 6 months as I need to accomodate my vertically challenged situstion. At first it was quite different after the Bonneville but I have settled in nicely having done about 3,000 miles. I have to admit the seat is quite firm and I am considering a gell rebuild without increasing the height. I love the bike, a joy in every way.

You might contact Rick Butler, [email protected]. He has reworked many seats. He redid my Yamaha Royal Star Venture seat. It was great. Now that he has been riding adventure motorcycles he has been reworking many adventure seats. I am sending my Tiger 900 seat over to him today. He is very reasonable in his prices. I do not recall the price, I'll find out today, but much less expensive than anyone else. He is retired and likes to work on motorcycles as a hobby.

I’ve ridden it from upstate NY to Nashville TN, I’m comfortable with the bike, just not on it :)

I PURCHASED MY 2015 TIGER XRX 800 LAST MONTH AND IT CAME WITH ROX RISERS AND A MESH SEAT COVER WHICH ALLOWS AIR TO FLOW BETWEEN YOUR REAR AND THE SEAT. IT IS SOFT AND MAKES RIDING 200 PLUS MILES VERY COMFORTABLE.

YOU MAY WANT TO TRY IT SINCE IT IS MUCH CHEAPER THAN REBUILDING OR BUYING A NEW SEAT. I TOO AM 5' 7" AND FIND THAT THE SEAT IS MUCH MORE COMFY WITH THE MESH THAN WITHOUT.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe rotate the bars back a bit to allow your wrists to turn down a little and take some strain off your shoulders.
