Scotty Moore, Elvis Presley's first guitarist, dies at 84
I was saddened to learn this today.
I liked Elvis as well as anyone did back in the 50's, but it was Scotty's licks and riffs on the guitar that I really liked.
I was a budding teenage guitarist back then and did my best to copy his style, but never did come very close.
The last time I saw Scotty was a couple of years ago on a British TV show starring Mark Knopfler who is a great player in his own right.
One of my favourite CD's is Neck and Neck with Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler. Needless to say, Chet was also one of my guitar hero's along with Les Paul.
