My T100 is overdue for the bi-annual vehicle inspection so I've been going over it and doing all the checks myself.
The front tire is worn down to the wear bars and I'm quite certain that it wouldn't pass inspection. It's also seven years old and should be replaced anyway, so I have a new one and a new tube on the way which should be here on Tuesday.
I've already removed the front wheel and cleaned it up. I'll take it to a dealer to install the tire and balance it. It's well worth the fee to have a pro do it.
The rear brake pads are looking very thin and I'm also sure they wouldn't pass inspection either so replacing them will be my job for today.
The brake caliper on these bikes is mounted on the bottom of the disc which makes it very hard to work on. To give me more room I removed the muffler (silencer) and while I'm at it I'll change the brake fluid.
A pro would have a bike lift and probably wouldn't remove the muffler, but I'm an amateur with no lift BGRIN

I know what you mean Rocky. Have to pull the whole rear wheel on mine to get rear caliper off. :censored: It's under slung as well. We don't have to get motorbikes inspected here, and I find that strange as our two provinces are the same about pretty much everything else when it comes to MVIs

I always thought you did have a bike lift
I have a bike lift that I made out of wood, but it won't hold a bike as heavy as the Bonneville.
I limit the use of it to my vintage BSA and Triumph which weight less than 400 pounds.

I replaced the brake pads just in time with an EBC set. The old ones were razor blade thin and would have scored the disc in short order.
I also changed the brake fluid and put the muffler back on.
The new tire is now expected to arrive on Monday so I'll get that done and take it for the inspection.

These inspections are just a tax grab. There's no evidence that they do anything for safety.
