On the GoPro HD there are a number of choices re recording resolution as shown here

Initially my choice is for the R5 setting as this gives the highest quality video(1920 x 1080 ) and a more natural viewing angle of 127deg,however it does create a much larger file.
R5

I then tried the R2 setting, which gives a lower but still good quality resolution of 1280 x 720 but it widens out the view to the default 170 deg.
This creates a much more manageable file size.
R2

Both of these images are screenshots of actual footage with the camera mounting position unchanged. The extra width in the R2 setting is apparent in the amount of speedo showing.
So the choice needs to be considered,
If you want to keep a more natural look, and you simply plan to store the vid on your pc and space and download time is not a problem, then I think the R5 setting is perfect.
However,If you like the super wide look and are happy with the quality and plan to upload your video to U-Tube etc, then I would try the R2 setting.
I haven't played with the R1,3 and 4 settings yet so feedback here would be appreciated.
