Has anyone ever replaced the rear turn signals with LED strips mounted on the bottom edge of back fender? I found a company online that sales LED strips that are turn signals thinking of doing this. Would it be too much trouble and do y'all think it would be visible enough? This will be on a rocket 3

In most cases I don't think the strips are bright enough if mounted too low. You will need to update your flasher to work with the LED strip or add some resistance in the circuit when going LED.

Everyone I know that converts to LED's has to add a resistor. One drawback to LED's is they are not nearly as visible from the sides unless they are designed specifically to be.

If they are made to be used with a 12v system, many times the have the resistor built into them. Ask the seller to be sure.

Could I just change the flasher relay instead of putting a load equalizer on?

Some times that is all that is needed. If you don't remove/change the front signals that should be enough load to provided the needed resistance in the circuit and no need to make further changes.

Some led kits come with the resistors, or you could change the reply. All it does is change the flashing timing.

Badlands makes a Metric Illuminator Pro III that will work on the non ABS bikes. You would have to call them to find out if they have a work around. 2013 RIII does not have a flasher relay, T/S flash rate is controlled by the ECM. You "should" (that's a dirty word to me!) be able to add LEDs to the back and have the proper flash rate. Mine flashed fast with key on and flashed normal with engine running. Harley 2 inch round LEDs will fit in the T/S lens with about five to ten minutes of light filing and fitting. Work slow and don't get them stuck by forcing them to fit. 1156 LEDs may have to have one lock tab ground off. And if they don't work, switch the stock wires on the T/S housing. Triumph doesn't seem to bother with checking polarity and LEDs have to be wired correctly. http://www.badlandsmotorcycleproducts.com/2008/Instructions.htm is the link for instructions if you want to attempt this. I am more than happy to answer what I can, just don't ask about ABS because I don't know. I have an early 2013 RIII Touring (non-ABS) and have done the complete installation. Front running lights, emergency flashers, T/S on rear are red and act as running and brake lights. Took a full day to install.
