Finally getting around to some remodeling that's been needed for the past 14 years. My only fear now is the final cost. . . She's not finished yet!!!

The old countertop had a hole beside the sink and it was time to get it fixed, finally.

The old. . .

They said there was only enough granite to do one of these countertops in the breakfast area but they lied.

The new

Also had enough to do the kitchen and breakfast area window sills.

Well with the new countertops she could reuse the old range. Of courthere was all kinds of horror stories about the new glass top electric ranges breaking when cooking with cast iron skillet and we're Southerners so there is only one way to cook. . . with CAST IRON!!! So I told her to get a gas range. Now a gas drop has to be made for the range and she loses two of the drawers and one of them was the spice drawer :y40: We're Southerners, we have to have the spice drawer. Now the drawers have to be modified to fit around the gas line.

But I'm here to report this range works just fine. Now if we can get the spice drawer back.

Now we are waiting to replace the range hood.

Once the hood is replaced she will get the tile for the backsplash installed.

I forgot photos of the breakfast area after the new countertops.

And just so the bathrooms don't feel left out. . . New quartz vanity top and sinks had to be included.

Now my only problem is she wants new floors and a remodel of my den. :y47:

The WORST part of it is that we are planning to sell the house and downsize for retirement. I won't even be able to enjoy it for the years to come. Oh well, we couldn't sell it the way it was.

It sure seems odd that just a few weeks ago I was talking about a new truck and how I wanted to get it early enough that it would almost be paid off before I retire AND now she kicks the remodeling into high gear.

Looks really great Hemi.
That's gotta happen here soon as well.:ohwell:

Thanks Q and I feel your pain :y2:

that looks real tidy and should add some value too ! TUP

Thanks Shane. We are hoping it just returns the value we would have lost if selling before the repairs. Kitchen and bathroom updates usually return more than they cost, not much more but a little to make it woth the time and money spent doing it.

It does look nice Hemi. When we sold our house in spain, we had to spend a fair bit on the garden, which grieved me no end, but we sold it for a small profit ( not the norm in spain ) and got the hell out of that country.
So look on the bright side you'll have the pleasure of seeing other people enjoy all your hard work, and not having to fork out any money for itGRUMPY.
Enjoy yourself won't you. :whistle2::whistle2:
