440 progressive?
Ohlins s36e
Hagons, which one?
Ikon?

Buy the best I can afford? Others' experience with these?

Thanks.

It is largely a matter of preference and how you intend to ride plus your weight. Any good middle grade shocks are a big improvement over the stock. Don't forget to up the the front also. I used Progressive springs to up grade mine and Ikon shocks on the rear.

I originally changed the rear shocks to Hagon shrouded shocks. I found the Hagons to be very hard, and only had 3 spring adjustments and no damping adjustment at all. I changed the Hagons for a pair of Ikon 7610's. I bought the Thruxton length which is 25mm longer than the Bonnie shocks. This has quickened up the handling and the rear suspension has transformed the bike! I also have Ikon progressive fork springs fitted together with a pair of Thruxton pre-load caps. I also have a Norman Hyde steering damper fitted.
The mods have made the bike handle really well!

The Progressive brand springs are GREAT, love em ! The Progressive shocks (440) are better than the stocks but still too stiff and I weigh 240 lbs.

Yeah it is a bummer when you don't get exactly what you expected and still put out a lot of cash doing it. I think after a bit you will get used to it as it is now and it will not be all that bad

Thanks, everyone. Very helpful. I am leaning toward the Ikons on the rear at this point, but it will be awhile. Still breaking her in! I love the look of the Progressive 440s, but I don't want to have to gain weight to make them work right. :y2:

I am going to look into that issue some more as I find it hard to believe they would make those shocks that would only work for heavier folks. I notice they have an "HD" or "Heavy Duty" version of the 440s. I wonder if this is what is confusing the matter.

Anyway, thanks again.

Now I am thinking about the Hagon Nitros--they look great and the reviews I've seen say they work/feel great. They are also less expensive than the 440s and Ohlins and about the same as the Ikon.

I have never ridden anything with the Nitros installed.

wish there was a way to test ride all these shocks. I know they will all be an improvement over stock, but still...I'm not a racer or anything like that, so I don't need racer type shocks--just something that will improve comfort and handling. That criteria may rule out the Hagon nitros and point me back to some basic upgrade like the Ikons or another version of the Hagons.
