Well, I finally decided to lower my shift lever and rear brake pedal on the T-100; the shift lever was, naturally, a 5 minute job, but then I went to the brake lever. If I can ever meet the sadistic cretin who designed that bit on insanity, I have a few choice words for him or her. I was determined not to take the footpeg off, so I bought a cheap set of "flare nut" wrenches in hopes of getting in between the frame and peg bracket to loosen the nut. No such luck! Even grinding the sides of the wrench thinner didn't work. Soooo, I gave in and pulled the front sprocket cover off, hoping it would fit that way. No such luck! Now, at my wits end and ready to give up for the time being, I went to my tools and saw a set of "crow's foot" metric ones that I'd bought so long ago that I can't remember why (not that age has anything to do with it, you understand). These NAPA ones were shaped almost like the "flare nut" ones and , lo and behold, the 12MM one did the job, albeit with a "wobbler" adapter on the breaker bar. It was a bloody tight fit in there and, as well, I had to use a pair of pliers with some tape wrapped around the jaws to keep from marring the brake rod, as it didn't seem to want to turn easily. Anyway, the pedal is now where I can slide my foot on it quickly, and a lot more comfortable to use. This is presented purely for reference purposes only...............don't try this at home!!!

Hi I did the same and lowered my shift and brake pedal on my T100 as they come set far too high in which you have to lift your foot up and place it on the rear brake. I ended up shortening the brake rod by cutting off some of the thread to get enough adjustment. I have a pic in my garage which may show it. So much better to ride with the lower brake and gear shifters.

Hmmmm
Strange, I backed the rear brake pedal off on my America and I'm sure it was a no hassle two minute job.
I was never unhappy with the position of it, but I backed it of to the stage where you have to actually roll your foot around the peg to get full pressure on the brake. This helps to cut down on those rear wheel lockups when some cell phone wielding moron cuts across your path.

Hi, Devo: My guess is that there's a bit more room in that area on the America. I totally agree that it should be a couple of minute job, but on a T100 it's a whole different animal. Just for curiosity's sake, what type of wrench did you use to loosen the locknut? Jim

Its been a while Jim so I had to go and look at it again. I was mistaken about it being a two minute job,it was probably more like 10 or 15 minutes.

What I did was remove the wee retaining clip on the connecting pin at the bottom of the pedal/adjusting rod assembly.
Then in order to allow the connecting pin to slide out,I backed of the two allen bolts which mount the master cylinder so I could push it in a little to give the pin enough clearance to remove it.
With the pin out,I rotated the bracket at the bottom of the rod away from the lock nut and adjusted the lock nut in the desired direction.(in my case it was upwards a couple of turns) and then rotated the bracket back up to it.
If you need more than a couple of turns, you would need to rotate the rod itself (there is a flat provided at the bottom for this,)
Its then a matter of putting the pin back in and checking the result.if you are happy with it then replace the retaining clip and tighten up those allen bolts and it should be all good.
If you need to get a wrench on that top locknut I would suggest a 12 mm brake spanner. If you dont have one then you will need to cut a slot out of a 12mm ring spanner.
Coupla pics below to help.

Yep, the forward footpeg setup on the America gives you a lot more room. The T100's is in the area of the front sprocket, behind the gearbox. Also, you've got a bit more courage than I, as removing that clip would have probably been a near disaster for me; "Murphy's Law", you know.

This is a pic of my modified brake pedal in which I cut and drilled holes. I also adjusted the pedal much lower as I found it also far too high for comfortable operation. I removed the threaded adjuster and cut off around 6- 10mm for extra clearance as I lowered the pedal so much the threaded rod bound on the pedal.
