As some of you know, I had quite the encounter with atmospheric precipitation last Saturday. When I got home, I was pretty damp, as the waterproof lining of my rain pants had failed, so it seems an opportune time to obtain new stuff.

I have some non-negotiable prerequisites:

1. It must BREATHE - here in Florida, if it doesn't breathe - then YOU die!

2. It must be a hi-vis color: Red preferably, but Neon Green or Yellow would be considered. Pants need not be colored - only the jacket.

3. Pants must have Nomex or other heat-resistant material in the inner calf area (preferable around the entire lower extremity), in order to resist burning/melting on the Rocket 3's exhaust.

4. Cold-weather liners are NOT necessary - or even desirable.

5. Price is of secondary importance (but I'm not interested in a BMW suit for 5-600.00)

Please let me know what you've found to work well and what I may expect to pay. If you have a good source - let me know that as well.

Thanks to all for the help!

Kerry

Collins Cycle gave me a full Triumph rain suit when I bought my Trophy and it's awesome. Bright red with reflective strips and the Triumph logo on the back, on the sleeve, and smaller in the front over a pocket.

But.....I wouldn't say it "breathes" at all and it definitely doesn't have heat resistant fabric on the inside of the legs.

I have a Black Triumph two-piece which I got about 5 years ago. It works really well and the quality of the fastenings is superb, but when the sun comes out ih has to come off !!

I never really worry about rain gear as my leather jacket is waterproof. If I do end up in rain its just the legs and feet that tend to get wet

With my fairing, only the tips of my boots get wet as long as I keep moving. But eventually you have to stop.

Kerry, I have settled for Frogg Toggs. They are relatively cheap and they do breath to some extent. They are easy to store. However, they do not have the heat resistant panels you are looking for. They work well and keep me dry - when I bother to put them on. When they start leaking, I throw them away and get another set. They last me from four to six years.

I never had any luck with FrogToggs. I found a great deal on Fieldsheer's Rainman suit, and it has the Nomex lower legs that I wanted. I'll write up a report on them after I've had a chance to try them out.

I bought new gear this year, as it was cooler & wetter here than usual for summer.
I got these 3 items, & like all 3 a lot.

Boots....not cheap, but excellent quality and comfy to. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/6/3/34864/ITEM/Sidi-Adventure-Gore-Tex-Boots.aspx

Pants & coat.....Cheap & works well. http://www.motorcyclegear.com/stree.../defender_two_piece_motorcycle_rain_suit.html
WOW - those boots are pretty spendy. I just bought my 3rd pair of Tourmaster's Solution WP - but this time I got their latest version 2.0. It has some nice imprrovements, not the least of which is a redesigned sole, which should provide longer life with better grip.

I sis consider the Defender rainsuit - but after I found the deal on the Fieldsheer - I thought it would be more suitable - especially after I read a couple of reviews on the Defender which indicated that it's waterproofness might not be quite as good as the Fieldsheer's

Thanks for the input, though. I appreciate it.

Not sure if anyone mentioned....I have not read the whole thread, however, only rain gear I carry (and I lived in South Florida and Now near Mobile Al.---which is one of the rainiest cities in the country....really...always in the top ten 2007 it was #1.) I have Frogg Toggs. WONDERFUL product. It actually BREATHES and keeps rain out. Light easy to pack, great kit.

Boots, I have some used ReviT brand "waterproof" riding boots. THey are "o.k." honestly......but not 100% water proof, but way better than my Sidi summer mesh boots.......:y2:
